My Fragrance Wardrobe: Charlotte Collins

In this series, we ask women in the know to share the fragrances they love. Next up is SL\u2019s editor-in-chief, Charlotte Collins. From the 90s scents she finds most nostalgic to the Tom Ford fragrance she thinks everyone should try, here are her all-time favourites\u2026<\/p>\n

Fragrance is the finishing touch to any look.<\/strong>\u00a0I would never go to a big meeting or event without it. Scent is a way of presenting yourself to the world, and I love that. Some are powered by a signature scent, but what I reach for depends on my mood.<\/p>\n

90s scents are very nostalgic for me.\u00a0<\/strong>Thierry Mugler was one of my first \u00a0purchases \u2013 I was obsessed with \u2018Angel\u2019. I also loved \u2018Rush\u2019 by Gucci and I have to \u00a0mention to \u2018Fierce\u2019 by Abercrombie & Fitch. I lived and breathed that fragrance \u2013 it distinguished the men from the Lynx-wearing boys.<\/p>\n

I love scents that can create an atmosphere and mood.<\/strong>\u00a0I have quite eclectic taste, though I lean towards fragrances that conjure up that cosy, cashmere, winter feeling. But I don\u2019t like anything too heavy; everything needs to be balanced. Fragrances that get this so right are Jo Malone London\u2019s \u2018Cypress & Grapevine\u2019 and Tom Ford\u2019s \u2018Tuscan Leather\u2019. Both are sexy and woody but not OTT or intrusive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Scent is a WAY OF PRESENTING YOURSELF TO THE WORLD, and I love that. I would never go to a big meeting or event without it.<\/div>\n

Speaking of cosy, sometimes I prefer burning candles to wearing fragrances.\u00a0<\/strong>My favourites are\u00a0 smoky and full of warmth, like Diptyque\u2019s \u2018Baies\u2019 \u2013 I\u2019d like to be buried with that \u2013 and \u2018Feu De Bois\u2019, which smells just like a freshly lit fire. Another favourite is Soho Home\u2019s \u2018Fireside\u2019 and Cire Trudon\u2019s \u2018Ernesto\u2019 \u2013 this is expensive but has become a ride-or-die. I also recommend Boy Smells\u00a0\u2018Hinoki Fant\u00f4me\u2019, both in the candle and fragrance form.<\/p>\n

Incense sticks help me feel comforted and warm.\u00a0<\/strong>My favourites are by\u00a0Aesop. My husband hates them, but when he\u2019s away, I get them going. I\u2019m a real cosy girl, so when I am on my own, I like to light lots of candles and incense sticks, turn on some lamps, and create a real mood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
